All the administrative districts of the state have a district level office, except Kolkata, which has been divided into three business districts (North, Central and South), each headed by an Assistant Controller of Legal Metrology (ACLM). There are 19 offices at present. The offices at Purba Medinipore and at Central Kolkata are to be opened shortly.
Each district is further subdivided into a number of Units, each headed by an Inspector of Legal Metrology (ILM). There are 113 such units in the state.
There is also a Secondary Standard Laboratory at Kolkata (Kankurgachi) and a Regional Secondary Standard Laboratory (RSSL) at Siliguri to cater the needs of North Bengal districts.
